Step 1: Locate a power source
The customer requested an installation with parking surveillance, so our first step is to make sure we have all the necessary cables and tools for the job: Thinkware hardwiring kit (which is included in the box if you have purchased a dual-channel Thinkware system), the Blackbox MyCar Essential Install Package, which comes with a circuit tester, trim remover tool, and add-a-fuse taps to make the hardwiring and installation process more manageable.
The fuse panel on the Lamborghini Aventador is located in the passenger footwell. If you have the Lamborghini Huracan, you will also find the fuse panel in the passenger footwell. Take out the passenger floormat to expose a set of screws hidden under the flap on each corner. Unscrew them to gain access to the fuse panel.
Suppose you do not need parking mode recording and prefer a simple plug-and-play setup, use the 12V power cable and the cigarette lighter socket inside the boot space. If you are thinking of getting a dedicated dash cam battery pack, you should be able to fit a small battery inside the boot space as well.
Step 2: Mount the Q800PRO front camera
In most cases, the perfect area to mount a dash cam is behind the rearview mirror because it hides the dash cam from the driver's view to avoid any obstruction while driving.
You also want to check how far the wiper goes because if you mount the front-facing camera above the wiper's reach, it will not have a clear vision. You don't want to have your dash cams installed in an area outside of the range of your windshield wiper coverage, or on a rainy or snowy day, the camera lens will not be able to capture video.
Next, clean the windshield from the inside of the car to ensure the camera sticks properly and to clean off any marks or smears that might affect the video quality of your footage.
Step 3: Locate the correct fuse for the hardwire installation
Refer to your Lamborghini owner's manual to avoid fuse slots that could pertain to certain safety features within your car.
Thinkware hardwiring kit is a 3-wire cable. Connect the red wire (the ACC wire) to a constant fuse (12V power) and the yellow wire (the Battery wire) to an ignition switch (12V source). The black wire with the C-shaped connector is the ground wire, which should be grounded to an unpainted metal bolt or stud in the vehicle.
Use the circuit testing in the Blackbox MyCar Essential Install Package to help you find a suitable continuous power fuse for the red/ACC wire and an ignition fuse for the yellow. You can look for the empty fuse slots or ones you can piggyback off using the add-a-fuse kit included in the Essential Install Package. Always refer to your Lamborghini owner's manual to avoid fuse slots that could pertain to certain safety features within your car.

Step 4: Run the dash cam power cable from the headliner to the fuse panel
Use the trim removal tool to gently pull back the headliner trim to tuck in the cables.
Guide the power cable along the headliner, down the passenger's A-pillar to the passenger footwell. While it sounds complicated, it is pretty straightforward; all you need to do is use the included prying tool to pry the headliner so there's a gap just enough for the cable.
You also don't want to push the cable under the rubber seal because it will create a little gap that might prevent the door from sealing properly - you will get wind noise, or worse, water can seep into the car. Take your time to guide the cable under the trim, and use the pry tool to tuck the cable underneath the panel covers carefully.
Suppose you haven't done so, download and install the Thinkware Cloud app on your smartphone. Once your Thinkware Q800PRO is powered on, press the WiFi button on the front unit to switch it to WiFi mode and then connect to the dash cam using the app to check the angle of the front and rear cameras.
And there you have it, a Thinkware Q800PRO dashcam installed in a 2018 Lamborghini Aventador. From the outside, looking in through the front of the vehicle, the Q800PRO blends in well with the car. The installation took under 4 hours, including mounting the camera, removing the A-pillar panel cover, routing the cables, and checking the recording angle using the mobile app viewer.
Mounting the rear dash camera in the Lamborghini Aventador
While the front camera installation is relatively straightforward, installing the rear camera will be a little tricky.
Here are a few tips:
- You want to mount the rear camera slightly off-centered because of the limited visibility from the rearview mirror.
- While rear cameras are rotatable, to retain the full functionality of the rear glass, we do not recommend mounting the camera right onto the glass.
