Thinkware Hardwiring Kit

The Thinkware Hardwiring Kit is designed for Thinkware dash cams. For more detailed instructions on how to use a Hardwiring kit, check out our general Hardwiring Fusebox guide. For all the tools you need to properly hardwire your dash cam into your vehicle, we would recommend purchasing the Essential BlackboxMyCar Install Package.

By installing your vehicle using a Hardwiring Kit, you will gain access to new vehicle features including parking mode. Additional features can be discovered through our Dash Cam Buyer's Guide.

Purchasing this Hardwiring Kit includes optional Add-a-Fuse Kits and Fuse Taps. NOTE: The types of add a fuse that we provide, if selected, are: Low profile, Mini, Micro 2, and ATO. For detailed information on how to use Add-a-Fuses, check out our Add-a-Fuse Setup Guide.

Vehicle Compatibility

Please note that certain makes/models of vehicles (BMW specifically) may require an extended hardwiring kit if the fuse box is located in the trunk. Please contact us if you need a hardwiring kit extension service.

What is Parking Mode?

Parking mode is offered on most of the dash cams available at BlackboxMyCar. While it is important to protect your vehicle while driving, it is just as important to have your vehicle protected while it is parked. When the dash cam is in parking mode, footage will only be saved when there is an impact and/or motion. Parking mode can be enabled with a hardwiring kit or a battery pack.

What is a Hardwire Kit?

A hardwiring kit enables parking mode. It allows your dash cam to remain powered on even when the vehicle's ignition is turned off. Installation is a breeze as you will only need to find an accessory fuse, constant fuse, and a grounding point.

What is a Battery Pack?

Most customers purchase the battery pack to avoid using the vehicle’s battery to power their dash cam. The battery pack is charged by either being hardwired into an accessory fuse or by being plugged into one of the vehicle's 12-volt cigarette sockets. We recommend the hardwiring the battery pack as it charges the battery pack quicker.

How much footage will my memory card store?

On average, a 2-channel dash cam writes 16GB/hour and a 1-channel dash cam writes about 8GB/hour.

Do I need a Rear Camera?

Accidents or events don't always happen at the front of the vehicle! Having a rear camera provides coverage for any events or accidents that may happen at the rear of the vehicle.

Do I need a IR Rear Camera?

An IR camera is designed to record the interior of the vehicle in low light conditions. This option is very popular among rideshare drivers.

What is a CPL filter?

A CPL filter attaches to the dash cam lens to eliminate lens flares, light reflections, and windshield glares.

Order arrived promptly and I installed it in an afternoon.
Vehicle specific fuse were provided thanks to the helpful staff.
Some vehicle installs require a little more advanced do it yourself know how, or, a professional installation.
I’m planning on a dash cam for my daughter’s car next and will use Blackbox.

Excellent product

I have installed numerous Thinkware dash cams over the last several years for myself and family. This hard wire kit has made it possible to take advantage of the parking mode monitor on my fa200 that came with the cigarette lighter power cord. Super simple, 12v constant power, 12v ignition power and ground! That’s it your done.
