Caught in the Act: An Insurance Fraud Attempt in Queens, NY

Imagine driving peacefully down a busy highway, only to find yourself suddenly involved in a suspicious collision. This was the harrowing experience of Ashpia Natasha on October 16, 2024, when she became the target of a calculated insurance fraud attempt.

On October 16, 2024, Ashpia Natasha experienced an alarming incident on the Belt Parkway heading east toward the Southern State Parkway in Queens, NY. While driving in the left lane, a silver Honda with the plate number LBB 8917 cut her off from the middle lane and abruptly slammed on the brakes, coming to a complete stop. This dangerous maneuver seemed designed to force a collision, but Ashpia managed to avoid hitting the Honda. Unfortunately, the Honda reversed into her car, causing a collision, and the occupants acted as if they were injured upon exiting the vehicle.

A Suspicious Setup

The driver, identifiable by a hat, could be seen switching to the passenger seat just before exiting the car. The first three passengers emerged from the vehicle pretending to be hurt, while the fourth driver slipped out through the passenger seat, hopped into a red KIA SUV (KJH 3340), and sped away. The red KIA had been following Ashpia at a safe distance, seemingly to avoid involvement in the planned collision.

Dash Cam Evidence

The demeanor of the remaining passengers changed when one of them noticed the dash cam in Ashpia’s car. Their initial theatrics dissolved, and they immediately focused on recording the damage to both vehicles with their phones. After a quick exchange of insurance details, they hastily left the scene.

Police Report

Ashpia called the police to report the incident. However, as no one appeared injured and both parties were willing to exchange information, the police did not respond to the scene. At the time, Ashpia was unaware that the driver had switched seats and left in another car, as the entire setup happened so quickly.
