How does the BlackboxMyCar S-Drive Display Work with Existing Bluetooth and Carplay?

If you’re going to ask us about what we love about the BlackboxMyCar S-Drive the most, it will be its multifunctional system and wide compatibility. Just imagine, everything that you need for a safer drive is already integrated into one device – from entertainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity for hands-free communication, and even a dash cam!

Universally compatible, the BlackboxMyCar S-Drive provides you with the freedom to install it alongside whatever existing interface or Bluetooth system you may have, whether you’re driving a classic vintage car or the freshest electric vehicle. In this blog, we’ll discuss the compatibility of the BlackboxMyCar S-Drive, especially with other Bluetooth systems.

The S-Drive’s Universal Compatibility

The days of automotive entertainment systems being confined to radios and CD players are long gone! Whether you have existing Carplay, Android Auto, or even just Bluetooth speakers, the S-Drive can connect. Even if you’re using a third-party phone that doesn’t support either of these services, the S-Drive itself can still be connected to as a basic Bluetooth connection. Here we’ll dive into the connections one by one.

My Vehicle already has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Will the S-Drive still work?

If you're wondering if the BlackboxMyCar S-Drive works with vehicles that already have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, the answer is a loud yes! As it acts as a standalone infotainment system, the S-Drive can connect effortlessly with existing Bluetooth or CarPlay connections, not requiring complex installs or adjustments.

The benefit of this allows the S-Drive audio output connection to be wireless, only needing to be wired to power, of course.

My vehicle already has Bluetooth but not Apple Carplay, will the S-Drive work?

If you're wondering if the BlackboxMyCar S-Drive works with vehicles that already have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, the answer is a loud yes! As it acts as a standalone infotainment system, the S-Drive can connect effortlessly with existing Bluetooth or CarPlay connections, not requiring complex installs or adjustments.

My Vehicle doesn’t have Bluetooth or a display system. Will the S-Drive still work?

As long as your vehicle has a cigarette socket or USB plug, you can use and enjoy the S-Drive Display. While the car models with built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are only limited, the BlackboxMyCar S-Drive enables you to pimp your ride – whether it’s a truck, van, SUV, recreational vehicle, or your daily commuter.

Simply plug in the 12V cigarette lighter adapter, mount your 10-inch HD display unit on your dashboard, and you’ll have a cutting-edge infotainment system installed – no panels removed.

If your vehicle has an AUX port, then the S-Drive can directly connect to your Vehicle’s Speakers. Don’t have an AUX port? Then the built-in FM transmitter can be connected to like a radio. Don’t even have speakers?! Well the S-Drive has it’s own built-in speakers too!

I’m an Android phone user. How can I benefit from the BlackboxMyCar S-Drive Display?

The BlackboxMyCar S-Drive Display integrates seamlessly with Android Auto for Android users. Android Auto delivers the power of Google to your car's dashboard, allowing you to use voice commands and a user-friendly interface to access navigation, music, and messaging.

With S-Drive’s Android Auto connectivity, you'll be able to connect your smartphone or tablet to this device. This gives you access to navigation apps like Google Maps once your phone is linked. You can also use Google Assistant to listen to music, get directions, listen to podcasts, make phone calls, and check the weather. Additionally, real-time traffic alerts are provided by navigation apps such as Google Maps and Waze.

Can the S-Drive connect multiple devices via Bluetooth simultaneously?

While it enables for seamless switching between devices, the first phone's connection must be disconnected before connecting the second.

In practice, this implies that you can connect from one device to another by disconnecting the first phone and connecting to the second. Still, S-Drive ensures a smooth and efficient process, allowing users to enjoy the convenience of multiple phone connectivity without significant hassle!

Can I answer calls on the screen?

As long as your phone is connected, the display on the S-Drive allows you to manage calls immediately with its user-friendly interface. You can answer or decline calls, even without getting your phone from your bag, console, or pocket.

Do I still need cables to connect my mobile device to the S-Drive Display?

No, all you need to do is turn your mobile device’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections on.

    1. Start by clicking “Android Auto” or "Carplay" in Settings to switch to preferred mode.
    2. For initial connection, ensure that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your iPhone.
    3. Connect to the unit's Bluetooth and wait for 5-10 seconds. Your mobile phone will display a prompt to use Android Auto or CarPlay in your vehicle.
    4. Upon successful Bluetooth authentication, the unit’s interface will be automatically displayed.
    5. For subsequent connections, the device will reconnect automatically if Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled (no additional steps required).

Note for Android Auto:  Ensure that your phone is running Android 10 or a higher version. Android phones require pre-installation of the Android Auto App, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store.

Note for Apple CarPlay: Due to iOS system version compatibility issues, please refrain from connecting the device's Wi-Fi via your mobile phone. If the connection fails, manually ignore the connected device's "tfxxx-wifi" and then click on Bluetooth connection again.

Is the S-Drive compatible with future technological updates?

This assures that it will be able to adapt to and incorporate future firmware updates, providing you with a one-stop-shop solution that will remain relevant and innovative throughout time!
